Contemplation

Contemplation, frustration, sadness, disbelief ???
This photo had me intrigued the moment I took it.
I didn't -and still don't - have any idea what this young man had going through his mind.
Is it contemplation? Or frustration, concentration, sadness, worry, disbelief ...
I know he wasn't in a happy mood from what I observed.
All I know is I saw him sitting there on the St Kilda pier in Melbourne, obviously taking a break from his job.
With a very intense look on his face and in his body language.
Although I don't usually take photos of people as my main focus, other than sporting shots, I could not resist this one.
At the time, I was contemplating a lot of areas in my own life, and it felt like he was holding up a mirror to me.
I could see myself in him. And I suppose I projected my own emotions in to his persona.
What do you see?
Cheers, Rob.

Tipped over the edge

Sunrise - Fraser Island, Queensland, Australia
This photo was the one that tipped me over the edge.
The 'not-quite' silhouette of a beautiful woman, bright flaring morning sun, rough sand, rough water, hazy atmosphere - it creates a mood and can spark great memories.
It is my (now ex) girlfriend on Fraser Island in Queensland, Australia. Around 9.30am on a beautiful deserted beach.
Taken with a low quality Aldi camera, handheld, after staying awake all night with Dingoes surrounding our tent.
The quality is not good, it breaks a lot of rules I have read about in books - but I am still proud of it.
It inspired me to try to intentionally capture more photos with as much 'mood' as this one.
It was a lucky shot. I did compose (set up) the shot the best I knew how, but it turned out so much better than I realised it would.
And from then on, I have been fascinated with what photography can achieve. I wanted to take more of the type of photo that you want to show off.
Maybe you have had the same experience. A nondescript photo that you took, that inspired you to take more. Post it in the comments if you like and tell us your story.
Cheers, Rob
