This photo was the one that tipped me over the edge.
The 'not-quite' silhouette of a beautiful woman, bright flaring morning sun, rough sand, rough water, hazy atmosphere - it creates a mood and can spark great memories.
It is my (now ex) girlfriend on Fraser Island in Queensland, Australia. Around 9.30am on a beautiful deserted beach.
Taken with a low quality Aldi camera, handheld, after staying awake all night with Dingoes surrounding our tent.
The quality is not good, it breaks a lot of rules I have read about in books - but I am still proud of it.
It inspired me to try to intentionally capture more photos with as much 'mood' as this one.
It was a lucky shot. I did compose (set up) the shot the best I knew how, but it turned out so much better than I realised it would.
And from then on, I have been fascinated with what photography can achieve. I wanted to take more of the type of photo that you want to show off.
Maybe you have had the same experience. A nondescript photo that you took, that inspired you to take more. Post it in the comments if you like and tell us your story.
Cheers, Rob
